My wife recently passed away and I've been told by certain advisors that I should open a probate estate. Is this something you advise that I do? Is there any reason not to open up one?

ANSWER

Expert Joseph Caplan's Answer:

Should your wife's assets exceed a limit that is established by your residency state, you must form an estate & administer it as per her will.
