I recently became President for a non profit spiritual camp. They hold church services every Sunday. Can I deduct the gas mileage since I have to go there often and it is a two hour drive one way?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

You can claim the travel expenses for your volunteer work as long as it is not related to any personal pleasure as detailed in IRS publication 526. Specifically, you can deduct the costs of gas and oil that are directly related to getting to and from the place where you are a volunteer. If you do not want to figure your actual costs, you can deduct 14 cents for each mile as per the standard mileage rate deduction.
