I have a small sole proprietorship that I have been running and slowly building the business. I am the only employee but I am contemplating sub-contracting this new year. Should I use QuickBooks or another accounting software?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

I would highly recommend using Quickbooks or some kind of accounting software, even as a small sole proprietorship.  Keeping good, accurate books and records is very important, for several reasons:

1.)  It helps you keep track of income and expenses, and may help you spot trends in expenses that may otherwise get out of control.

2.)  It keeps your records organized, so that you can substantiate your expenses in the event of an IRS audit.

Also, using automated accounting software like Quickbooks helps you generate professional looking invoices, keep track of bills, and keep track of customers who have not paid you on time, etc.
