How does the AMT affect me?

The AMT tax applies to individuals, in higher income tax brackets,
who have substantial itemized deductions. If applicable, it applies
when your AMT liability exceeds your computed income tax liability.
If so, you have an AMT tax liability amount that equals the difference between
the aforesaid two liability amounts.
