I'm a church musician. For many years, I've played in various congregations as an independent contactor, playing when and where I want to. However, since February 2009, I have been playing in just one church. I have continued to tell this church that I am no longer an Independent Contractor, but they continue to insist that I am. They've even written letters to that affect. This concerns me; I've filed with the IRS as an independent contractor, but know I am truly an employee of that church. How can I get this situation straightened out with them?
