On 1099-MISC form, do should I enter income earned on the Other Income line or Non-Employee Compensation?

ANSWER

Expert Thomas Graham iii's Answer:

It really depends.  Box 7, Nonemployee Compensation, would be used for fees, commissions, prizes and awards for services performed as a nonemployee.  Box 3, is sort of the "catch all" of any sort of other income that doesn't fit anywhere else.  Instruction form 1099 - Misc can provide more detailed explanations of particular items that would go in each box.  Without more information it would be hard for me to say one way or the other.
