I have a few employees that are working in New Jersey for a short period of time. Do I still have to withhold taxes in the state of New Jersey?

ANSWER

The BIDaWIZ Team's Answer:

The answer is that it depends on the period of time and the expected income generated. New Jersey state tax code indicates that an employer may not have to withhold taxes for non-resident employees that only work for a short period and their income isn't expected to exceed the personal exemption amounts in the state of $1,000. This is referenced in the New Jersey Withholding Tax Booklet.
